  • Teri:

Here is a website that I found to be helpful:

My fiance is diabetic and we tend to eat a lot of Stir Fry. We use any vegetable that we have in our fridge such as peppers, tomatoes, onions, carrots, corn.

    Good Luck!!

  • My suggestion is to check out the weight watchers diet. I have done the diabetic diet because of family members before and find weighwatchers is a good comparison. They have a lot of on-line recipes also.

The best thing you can do is try to include something from every food group in your main meals and small portions of each. I would steam veggies. Bake chicken ******* and only eat 1/2 of one. Salads with chicken and the fixings on it. Are wraps better than sandwich bread? You can season however you like.

  • here are a bunch of things to read good luck

  • Why do people write “read details” when you have to, in order to answer the question?

  • Chicken Stir frys are great, Different types of salads, fruit salads lol, I pretty much eat like that all the time anways! lol

  • I love this site.

One thing to remember is that its not just sweets, carbs turn into sugar so you have to watch those too. Without knowing what your taste are its hard to give you specific recipes, but one thing i like is taco salads. I use ground turkey but you can use ground beef. prepare the meat like making for tacos. i make a large salad using lettuce, tomatoe and shredded cheese and put the meat on top. you can use salad dressing but buy the low carb ones, the fat free dressings are deceiving in that they use more sugar to make up the taste from loosing the fat. A lot of low fat or fat free products do that. Just do some comparison shopping. Another food I like is tuna salad but I make it a little different. I dont use pickle cubes as they are sweet. I chop a few green olives up, mix it with the tuna, a little brown mustard and regular mayo (hence the fat free mayo has more sugar). A tip that might be handy is when you bring the groceries in, go ahead and alot yourself time to wash and cut up the vegetables and put them in air tight containers in the fridge. You are more likely to eat those when they are ready to eat than if you have to prepare them when you want them. Good luck and Congrats on the baby!

  • As a diabetic, the main thing for me was to get in the mindset. Look at your 6 small meals as snacks.

Have a scrambled egg and a piece of toast for breakfast. At mid-morning a piece of fruit. Lunchtime a small salad with some shredded chicken or chopped ham and a little cheese with a vinaigrette dressing.

Mid afternoon a couple of sugar free cookies and milk or another piece of fruit. Dinner have a grilled chicken ****** or piece of good lean ham or even a small steak with a salad and steamed veggies. Then before bed a cup of tea with a sugar free cookie.

Another thing you can do is keep celery and carrots cleaned and cut and in a jar of water the fridge for when you just got to eat something. Keep things like chicken and vegetable stock on hand. Heat a cup and drink it when you need something. It curbs the appetite and tastes good and helps satisfy your hunger pangs.

Club soda is also a good drink alternative. Squeeze some lemon or lime in it and its an unsweetened soft drink.

These are just ideas but good luck and remember its for the baby.

  • A totally free website to track and plan food is. You create a free account and tell them what you can eat and not eat and it will give you suggestions, or you can enter individual foods and the menu planner will tell you how much of everything is in it. Really neat. If you take some of the other suggestions and make stir-fry, make sure you use low-sodium soy sauce. Really makes a difference!
