  • My diabetic dietician gave me a plan when I was on 1500 cal. a day.
    15/150/1500
15 grams saturated fat per day. 150 grams of GOOD, high quality carbs per day, and 1500 cal.

  • I do strictly Atkins and Bernstein, with lowest carbs and no sugar and have been able to keep my glucose down WITHOUT medication. I don’t count calories becasue the fats allowed raise calories, but worth it. If lowing carbs, and NO sugar, the cholesterol level also stays low. Googl Atkins and Dr. Richard Bernstein online, especially Bernstein first. He’s still alive and a successful diabetic for over 50 years. A real Guru. Can’t even get an appointment with him and if you do the visit takes 3 days long… in new rochelle NY. I trust him completely. My mother was also diabetic all my life and we were Patients of Atkins long ago, having always lived in Manhattan.

  • I also do the low carb meal planning….I never count calories. I make sure my carbs do not exceed 25 per meal. I have been able to keep my glucose down this way. I think its hard enough to count carbs! I would throw in the towel if I had to count calories too…lol!

  • my diet consist of 45 carbs three meals and two snacks of 15 carbs only. No saving carbs to use latter each meal must contain between 35-45 if you don’t use the allotment you forfeit that in the next meal. So far I am losing about 1- 1/2 pound a week and keeping it off. exercise helps but having arthritis I can’t do much in that area.

  • ^ 1500 calories sounds healthy but there are other things to consider, you said your female but your age and weight count as well, the same thing goes for carbs. You should speak to your nutritionist, he or she can help you work out a healthy eating plan. I hope this helps, good luck.

i’m a 35 yr female diagnosed w/ type 2 in oct 2008…since my diagnosis, i have lost 62 lbs watching my carbs primarly…i probably dont eat enough carbs, but i am never hungry and my bs is being very well controlled by my diet alone…i average 90-100…i may eat 1000-1200 calories a day, but i dont count them…i dont really count my carbs either…if i am going to eat something that i know is higher in carbs (i.e. 20-25), i eat it for breakfast…doc said if i wasnt hungry and everything seemed to be going well, then not to change…that’s just me though…i feel like i eat all the time…i counted my calories/carb so far for today (its 1:25pm)because i came across this site and i have 728 calories and 56 net carbs…this is a day when i feel i’m eating too much…but when i count it like that, i havent really…good luck to you!!
